2011 Christmas Cards
Nov. 15th, 2011 01:13 pmPosting here since I'm still iffy on LJ's privacy issues. I'm making an attempt to mail Christmas cards this year! Early too, since I'm. Going to be away in Japan during actual Christmas. Please leave a name and address here (comments are screened) if you would like to receive one? I'll try to doodle something in every card too. ♥

Nov. 10th, 2011 11:51 pmWatched In Time last week and I'm really not sure what to make of it. It started of all philosophical and then just went ... strange ... like it couldn't figure out how to get the point across and coming to a conclusion that made sense. Fascinating concept, but there were just lots of plot points dangled everywhere that feel like they weren't resolved.
Finally finished speeding through the last book of The Laws of Magic by Michael Pryor. (Would have stayed up reading the entire thing last night if not for a blackout at 4 AM, ha ha ...) I'm not really sure what to think - there were so many editting errors over the course of the series that made me despair a little and I can't decide if I like the pacing of the story or not. I will say that I adore the approach of treating magic like a science, with every spell based on "laws" in a way that reminds me of physics(?), and the fact the protagonist is a guy who spends a good chunk of the series overcome with ALL THE FEELINGS for his love interest. I'm not sure I've seen a series that's made it so blatant before, and it's kind of refreshing, even with the author's love for using extended analogies and metaphors all over the place.

Oct. 21st, 2011 07:58 pmCleaning the house continues to be a slow process, which I really shouldn't be surprised about. The distressing this is more that because I've had so many things stacked up in places because of lack of room before, any room I've managed to procure from throwing things out is quickly taken up. I'm not sure this counts as progress.
Anyway, I have with me a yellowed piece of notepaper that I wrote down a couple of recipes from my Latin teacher who taught me from Year 8 to 10, which I'd rather throw away because it's taking up space, so clearly it's time to transfer it to a digital format.
( Poppyseed Cake )
( cookies )

Sep. 30th, 2011 10:56 pm... I hate you, LJ.
Anyway, I finally got around to watching Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and 1) wow, I'm sad I missed out on reading the book as a kid and 2) I.
I don't really know what to think about this movie.
The animation is freaking awesome and beautiful and HNNNNGH but man, it was like everything else was powered by sheer obsurdity.
Granted, from watching some of the special features on the making of the movie and seeing the two directors smush the ingredients of a hamburger into some book covers (!!!!! RUINING BOOKS >8[), it's not as surprising in hindsight.
(I think this is the first thing I've actually watched with Mr. T in it besides the odd advertisement, hee hee.)

Just watched/caught up on Wakfu yesterday after a couple of years of putting it off and I LOVE IT??? The animation quality is pretty superb, if prone to recycling shots very occasionally, but it's definitely contains one of the best blend of 2D Flash and 3D animation that I've ever seen.
Plot-wise, there might be a bit too much gratituous worldbuilding and every now and then it's assumed you know things from the game, but overall, it's actually pretty solid.
Now I have to wait for the next episode(s) and who knows when that'll be.
Anyway, how's it going, LJ?

Aug. 18th, 2011 02:31 amFriend 1 is still working where she did her internship and helped design a bus ad campaign.
Friend 2 is still working where she did her internship and has made a teapot to sell (retail price of $190!).
Friend 3 went from working at a glasses store to the main offices where he helps put together designs and goes visit sites like Market City and getting rides in Porsches.
Friend 4 has apparently been more internet famous than I realised and frequently gets dA front-paged (which depending on your POV, is or isn't a big deal) and has birthday cards being published in major stores.
can't help be feel
just a little jealous sometimes

- Sun, 11:13: People always wonder why I flip out slightly when they say I'm internet/fandom famous, and I think it's because my eyes always slide in
- Sun, 11:14: Chira's direction and how do you even *compare* to that. |D
- Tue, 00:37: So I think when my brother comes home after leaving in the afternoon and not telling me any of his plans or calling me to let me know what;s
- Tue, 00:38: up, I will slowly roast him over a fire.
- Sun, 16:47: Pretty sure I have no one to see the X-Men movie with now. :|a Why does this keep happening ...
- Sat, 19:45: I don't actually know why I'm listening to Katy Perry. My tastes are so mainstream, man.
- Sun, 00:35: aklsdf just got a tumblr notif from the FIRST of June, jeez

Jun. 11th, 2011 02:43 pm> Get excited that LJ has introduced the feature to watch selective tags on comms!
> Discover it only applies when you're logged in to the respective account. Sadface.
I mean, come on, what if you're logged out and just want to quickly skim your Friends list? :\ (Not to mention the skeevy stuff involving IP addresses ...)

- Fri, 01:11: Welp, here's to trying the LJ client for Twitter. Still kind of dumb I can't set what time it posts though. :\
- Fri, 01:11: That said, anyone else ever have the routine of clipping nails before going to bed so they're not all sharp and awkward all day?
- Fri, 01:11: Proof for myself how quickly nails grow, basically.
